Advantages of chalcedonite filter beds

SkySil beds are highly efficient filter materials. For this reason, they have a wide range of applications. They perform excellently in filtration systems:

The unique physical and chemical properties of SkySil bed are the source of its numerous advantages over quartz sand. Thanks to the developed pore system, each grain is characterised by lightness and strength, which extends the life of the bed and reduces the costs associated with its operation.

One of the key aspects in water treatment is the length of time it takes for a filter bed to remove manganese or ammonium ion from water. Traditional beds commonly used in water technology take up to several months to reach a contaminant concentration level acceptable for drinking water.

When using the SkySil bed, this period is much shorter. Favourable results are obtained as early as halfway through the working time, and what is more, they are visibly lower.

The use of SkySil bed makes it possible to optimise costs in many cases; its unique properties, compared to other filter materials, excel in water treatment technologies and bring considerable savings in the construction/modernisation and operation of water treatment plants.

The use of the SkySil high-efficiency filter bed, with a purchase cost of PLN 6840 higher, will enable a reduction in the number of filters and bring savings of up to PLN 160 000 for the new water treatment plant project with a capacity of 100 m3/h and an iron level of 2.5 mg/l.

Increasing the capacity of the water treatment plant

SkySil’s chalcedonite filter beds allow much higher filtration. For traditional filter beds such as quartz sand, the limit is 10 m/h. Tests conducted on chalcedonite grit confirm that achieving 15 m/h preserves the parameters of pure water, and in special cases the speed can even reach 20 m/h.

By replacing the quartz sand with the highly efficient SkySil filter bed, it is possible to increase the capacity of the SUW by 40 per cent without having to increase other investments.
